Ebay and Craigslist are also a great way to earn a living on the internet. You can post ads, auctions and even market on Craigslist. There are a number of ways you can use these two websites to help promote your business and your products or even make them the sole focus of your business.

E-books are another great strategy. You can create a business around e-books. E-books are becoming more and more popular. They are fast to create, they are easy to deliver and they are highly portable. They are also designed to present information in a concise and quick manner. This makes them a great product or even a marketing tool for other products.

One of the other things that makes a great internet business is providing a service to other people who are in business online. This has to do with marketing, writing, or creating different types of media for businesses. You can even help individuals by typing up minutes, reports or any other service they may need that can be handled online. This includes transcription and offering virtual assistant or appointment setting services.

Google ad sense is another way to increase your business opportunities or even create a whole business in and of itself. You do this by creating advertising that promotes products or services and then setting them up so they get to the websites that are going to encourage action on these advertisements. This means they need to be placed on websites that contain similar or related products.

There are plenty of ways you can create a business online over the internet. You can offer products and services that you believe in. You can enjoy creating media or doing anything you love to do. Even selling art work makes a great online business. There are plenty of opportunities out there. Almost anything you can think of can be done through the internet. Lose Focus and Money & Internet Profits Will Slip Away…

Focus is a tricky proposition. We all come by focus naturally, but the clarity and intensity of our focus is the challenge that most people encounter. Throughout our daily lives, there are a multitude of things that command our attention and these things in and of themselves require focus — our jobs, our family, our responsibilities to ourselves and others… the list goes on.

And yet, when it comes to a new or ongoing business venture, it is often life’s daily responsibilities that cause us to lose focus on the task at hand. This is where we need to begin transitioning toward the lifestyle to which we aspire.

The great conflict — how do I stay true to my obligations and yet free myself to explore the great adventure of Online Internet Marketing? And a great challenge it is, indeed! Adding to the complexity is a dual challenge within the scope of the new endeavor itself. First you must devote time to focus on what slant your marketing efforts will employ form a virtually unlimited pool of options and then you much devote time to researching, education and implementation of your new plans & strategies.

Once you have committed the time to making money on the Internet, where do you start? There’s Ebay, Affiliate Marketing, Ezines, Blogging, Adsense, and more! Many, many more! Chances are, you aren’t even sure what some of these things are — let alone which one is right for you.

The three best pieces of advice I can give:

Once you have committed a very specific amount of time that you diligently stick to, sit down at your computer and spend a few hours looking over any programs and methods that catch your interest. Do Not, I repeat DO NOT Buy Anything at this stage! Put yourself on “purchasing suspension” for at least 24 hours and do nothing other than read. Read, and then READ some more!

In the vast world of online marketing, there is truly something for everyone, but to hear each author tell it — His or her program is the only one for you!

Hear Me: There is NO single “right” method and no end all/be all approach. In the right hands they all have potential, and in the wrong hands? Well, you know the rest…

Only YOU can decide what’s right for you and the only way to make this determination is to research programs recommended from a credible source and weigh all factors — time, budget, experience, etc. — before making a decision as to which direction you decide to pursue.

I know from where I speak…

My situation has been more fortunate than most, in that I had time on my side when I embarked on my Internet Marketing adventure. I was not pressed to turn a quick profit, so I utilized my time doing extensive (albeit exhaustive) research. In fact, I owe my outrageous success to the simple fact that initially I spent more time researching than “implementing.” (But notice I said initially!) And once I settled on what would work for me, putting into action was a no-brainer.

The second critical activity is to spend a considerable amount of time in various forums that are not only in your niche, but also Internet Marketing forums in general. Read and listen to what others are saying and what is working for them. And, conversely, keep an eye out for consistency in things that are discussed which have failed or completely went belly up. This forum exploration will also prepare you for other avenues of traffic generation which you will work yourself up to down the line, so it is time well spent – even early on.

Finally, surround yourself with positive, like-minded entrepreneurs. If your immediate circle of friends or relatives are not supportive of your new enterprise, then make online friends who are! You have a long and prosperous road ahead, and cluttering it with people who are not inspiring and motivating you is the fastest way to defeat!

We all know what traditional marketing is due to the constant spamming of mailers, newspaper ads, television ads, radio ads etc. How effective are they any more? Branding your product name or corporate identity is still a very strong marketing strategy but how does this play a role for your hotel business? Of course you have the option of sending out mailers if you have a list of past customers. You could always put up an ad in the newspaper, but that really isn’t targeted traffic. Then there is local television and radio marketing, which costs a ton and you’ll most likely not get a great return on your investment. Why is traditional marketing not as effective compared to the way it use to be?

Online Marketing

When you look at the huge companies that have been around for the last 50 years, they have traditionally used old marketing techniques to bring up their corporate identity such as Apple computers, IBM, McDonalds, Johnson & Johnson, etc. If you look at other huge companies that have only been out in the much more recent years such as Google, Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, etc. you’ll notice a huge difference in their marketing campaign. Predominately the newer companies rely heavily on online marketing. PPC (pay-per-click), AdSense, SEO, banner ads, spam, blogging, article submission, etc. are all forms of online marketing that hasn’t really been tapped in the hospitality industry. The number one thing that a hotel can do to stay on top of the online market is to make sure they are ranking in the top spots organically through SEO.

Obviously having a website would be the first step. Now having a corporate website vs. your own website are two different things. For one you can not optimize your corporate website as they will not allow for you to do so. You also have no control over what content is being provided on a corporate website. For this reason alone it’s imperative that you have a separate website. This will also be your safety net should you decide to leave your brand. So when I asked where are you, you should now have made the decision to get your own website and make an online presence. Websites range in pricing from moderate to expensive but for now a simple website would suite your property well. It’s really the optimization that you should be focusing on. The age of your domain name also plays a role in your SEO efforts so you should get started as soon as possible. The sooner that you start the sooner you may reap the rewards from online marketing.
